情
情定日落桥
I was sauntering on the street. Although it was almost 10 o'clock, there was still an exodus of people who were ready to hunt their midnight carnival. It was raining a little bit and I had no where to go.
Like a phantom strolling about in a jungle of neon lights, I found myself completely lost in this metropolis. The outline of skyscrapers blurred in the wet darkness-there was something lurking hehind those monsters, ready to crush me like a bug at any time.
It was raining harder.
There was a bar in front of me.
The peroxide blonde at the gate gave me a manufactured smile which I returned in the same way. I entered, called for a rum and sat down at the corner, accepting reluctantly the waitress' robotic manner. Cigarette smoke, cheap laugh and pop jazz suffused the bar. Although I was already used to all these, I still found myself an utter alien. Yet I just sat there, sipping my rum. Soon the world began to whirl slowly round me and then it began to move away from me. The noise spread into my ears from another planet.I was here-with myself-alone.
Well, it was midnight already. My conscientious half started to urge me home. So I struggled up, paid my bill and staggered out of the door.
I looked back at the bar for the last time, turned up my collar, and walked into the rain.
Single bar, single man.
