One Way Ticket

Ronna Reeves

(Ronna Reeves/Jimmy Grubbs)

She wakes up every morning
And drags a brush through her hair
Has a strong cup of coffee
She ain't got much to wear
She punches in at 7 a.m.
And works a 10 hour shift
She's livin' a hard life
She's still got a lot to give

She ain't got a whole lot of money
That ain't stopped her yet
This girls got hopes and dreams
She's not through livin' yet
She's gonna go far and she's not in a hurry
She's workin' on a one way ticket
To anywhere

Everybody's so settled down
Just live day to day
Well Billy wants to marry her
She don't know what to say
There's nothing wrong with a small town
Some folks never leave
But this girls got a wild heart
Tryin' to get free

She ain't got a whole lot of money
That ain't stopped her yet
This girls got hopes and dreams
She's not through livin' yet
She's gonna go far and she's not in a hurry
She's workin' on a one way ticket
To anywhere

She could take Billy's offer
And have a couple of kids
She could stay at the factory
Yeah... just like her momma did

But this girl's different
She's gotta go her own way
She might be a little foolish
She's goin' for it anyway

She ain't got a whole lot of money
That ain't stopped her yet
This girls got hopes and dreams
She's not through livin' yet
She's gonna go far and she's not in a hurry
She's workin' on a one way ticket
To anywhere

She's gotta go her own way
This girl's different
