1800年前大举侵入罗马的日耳曼族的祖先们也许做梦也想不到他们的蛮族精神会在1800年后的欧美大陆上被一些摇滚艺术家们发扬光大。

　　“哥特式摇滚”(Gothic Rock)给我的感觉似乎与13世纪那些垂直飞翔的教堂没太大关系，倒是更多地让我联想起爱伦·坡的小说和黑泽明早期的电影。这是一种将朋克、华丽摇滚与重金属相结合的反传统的音乐形式，音乐氛围以恐怖与凄凉为特征，并且多少带一些反宗教的色彩。
